Sight Word Stories
Grades: -1-14
Sight Word Stories
Turn your budding readers into writers with simple sight word stories and poems.
Students don't have to know lots of vocabulary or be able to read to share information about their experiences and the world around them. For example, assign the I Go, I See template to students and ask them to pick a spot they have visited and share the name of something they see there.
Have students use the Paint tools to add illustrations to the page and the Microphone tool to narrate their sentences.
Use the Project Wizard in your teacher account to combine individual student pages together into a class book. Export the book as a PDF to easily share with families and present the class book using your whiteboard or projector during a reading and writing celebration with parents.
As students gain confidence recognizing sight words and putting them together, assign the Magnet poem activity and ask students to drag sight words to write prose poetry.
