'I Can Teach You' Tutorials

Ask students to think about a skill or activity they are good at and enjoy. This could be anything from playing a sport, cooking, drawing, or even storytelling. Have students share their ideas with the class and write a list of these skills on the board.

Let students know they will be creating an advertisement to teach others about the skill or activity they are passionate about. Then, discuss what makes an effective advertisement. Highlight the importance of clear text, engaging images, captivating videos, and a compelling message.

Provide students with a planning template to organize their ideas. They should consider:

  • What skill or activity they will teach
  • Why others should learn this skill
  • What makes them a good teacher for this skill
  • What tools or materials are needed to learn the skill

To guide student work, assign a blank canvas with instructions on each page.

Students can use the paint tools to draw a picture of themselves performing their chosen activity or upload a video of themselves. Next, have students add text to their ads. Consider having students include:

  • A headline that grabs attention (e.g., "Learn to Play Soccer!")
  • A short description of the skill or activity
  • A brief explanation of why they enjoy this activity and what others can learn from them
  • Any special qualifications or experience they have in this activity

Once students have completed their ads, print them out using the Project Wizard QR code feature. This makes it easy to display the ads around school with a QR code, allowing others to listen and watch their ads on their devices.

Lead a class discussion on the importance of sharing skills and learning from others. Be sure to talk about how everyone has unique talents and how teaching and learning from each other can strengthen the school community.
