Snowman Stories

Begin by reading the enchanting wintery story Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. Encourage your students to pay close attention to the whimsical and mischievous escapades the snowmen get up to during the night

After enjoying the story, let your students in on the secret plan for the day: they will have the chance to create their very own stories about what their snowman does at night.

If your students love using talkies, assign the Snowmen at Night activity. Students use the paint tools and image options to add details to the snowman and winter scene. Then, select the snowman's mouth and click the Record button to narrate a story about what their snowman does at night.

If your students have experience with Wixie, try an animated approach. After they choose what they want their snowman to do, have students start a blank project. The, use the Page Picture button to find a scene for the snowman's activity. Use the paint tools to draw their snowman in action.

Use the lasso selector to select the snowman and convert to a sticker. Then use the object animation features to make it move on the page and do the action.

When students have finished, use the Project Wizard to combine the pages into a class book. Click the Show button to bring the talking and moving snowman scenes to life.
