Spread Kindness with Compliments
Grades: 1-12
Spreading Kindness with Compliment Cards
Begin by discussing the importance of kindness. Talk with your students about how a simple compliment can brighten someone's day.
Show your students examples of compliment cards and then have a class discussion about different types of compliments and their impact.
Let students know that they will be creating compliment cards for their peers.
Ask students to think about the qualities or actions that they appreciate in their classmates. For example:
- You make sure everyone feels included.
- You always have a great attitude.
- Thank you for always helping me.
If you'd like to direct their word, you can assign one of the many compliment card templates in the Social-Emotional template folder.
The compliment card templates include several pages so students can create multiple cards with different compliments.
When students finish their cards, instruct them to print them as trading cards and share them with their classmates.
If you have time remaining, have students write a brief reflection on how it felt to give and receive compliments.
