My Spring Walk
Grades: PK-2
My Spring Walk
Begin by discussing the arrival of spring with the students. Talk about the changes they have observed in the environment, such as warmer weather, blooming flowers, and increased activity among insects.
Then, read aloud Spring Walk by Virginia Brimhall Snow to set the mood and inspire curiosity about nature.
Lead the class on a guided nature walk around the school grounds or a nearby park. Distribute pencils and paper to each student and explain that they will be using these tools to document their observations during the nature walk. Encourage students to use their senses to observe the signs of spring.
After returning from the nature walk, gather students together to reflect on their observations. Then, assign the Spring Walk template for students to share their observations.
Have students describe the flowers and insects they encountered, share interesting facts, or tell a story about their observations.
When students finish, invite them to share their recorded observations with the class.
