My Family Tree

Begin by discussing the importance of families and what families are. Be sure to emphasize that families can look many different ways, and that each family is unique and special in its own way. Ask students questions like:

  • Who is in your family?
  • What do you do with your family?
  • Why is family important?

Then, assign the Family Tree activity and explain to the students that they will construct their own family trees. Family trees are a great way for students to explore their family history.

Students add their names at the bottom and then add their parents and grandparents. Encourage students to use the paint tools or Image Library to add pictures of their family members.

Once students have completed their family trees, have a sharing session. Each student can present their family tree to the class. They can say the names of their family members and share something they like to do with their family.
