When I Was One Poem
Grades: 2-4
When I Was One Poem
Elementary students are becoming stronger writers with vocabularies large enough to find rhyming words. Get your students into poetry by creating their own version of A. A. Milne's poem "The End" from Now I am Six.
- When I was One, I had just begun.
- When I was Two, I was nearly new.
- When I was Three I was hardly me.
- When I was Four, I was not much more.
- When I was Five, I was just alive.
- But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever, So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.
Assign the When I was One template to save time and help students get started.
If you want to do this with students at a different age, simply adjust the text.
When students finish, use the Project Wizard to create a book of student projects. The student projects will be added as web objects.
