Everybody's Tree: Celebrate Traditions

Read Barbara Joosse's Everybody's Tree, a heartwarming tale of an 80-year-old spruce tree holding cherished memories and traditions for the community. Ultimately honored in the town square, it becomes a symbol of unity and shared history.

Engage in a classroom discussion, exploring story themes like memories, traditions, and community connections. Encourage students to share personal stories about special memories, traditions, or places in their own communities.

Assign the Decorate a Tree template or a blank canvas. Students can use the paint tools and images from the Image Library to add ornaments, decorations, or symbols that represent cherished memories and traditions.

If you have extra time, ask students to write a sentence about their trees using the text tools, complementing their artwork.

When students complete their work, use the Project Wizard to combine individual projects into a beautiful digital forest of memories and traditions. Project the compilation on a whiteboard, allowing students to explain their included elements, portraying the concept of a communal tree celebrated by all.
